This blog details my quest for the better understanding of digital media. I am part Web designer, part journalist and an aspiring programmer. There’s a lot of other stuff too, but thats the gist of it. I bring many of the skills I learned while studying as a journalist to my work. I believe that websites fit for mass consumption should have the structure and readability of standard print media. Thats not to say I am a Luddite when it comes to new Web standards; Web 2.0 (a catchphrase for the most part) is a great paradigm of interactive browsing and simplicity. I think user-submitted news propagators such as Digg.com and Technorati are the future of news media. We are at a changing point in the way we think and digest information. In one sense we are even more part of the information collective than we have ever been. In another sense, there are so many collectives that we are more fragmented than ever. News and society are changing at a breakneck pace, and I want to be at the forefront.
Oh - I highly recommend reading “The Long Tail” by Chris Anderson. Its a good look at the way the Internet is changing our markets.
